The administering of baby oil to your baby at 'bath time' is an often overlooked area when focussing on baby skin health, preventing nappy rash. There are a number of reasons why baby oil is a good idea, they range from the fact they it is simply good for protecting and enhancing a baby's skin, ensuring that the baby's skin can cope with the speed of growth of the skin. Another benefit is the fact that when the baby oil is administered baby gets a lovely bonding, skin stimulating, immune enhancing massage. A number of parents have told us that placing baby oil onto their baby at bath time has resulted in a real improvement in the baby's skin and reduced the frequency of all skin conditions whether that be nappy rash or general eczema. These days there are a number of different types of baby oil, we would recommend that a simple, unperfumed oil is the one to choose.

Several parents have told us that the routine of their parents giving them oil massage when they were babies (often at nappy change time), carried through into childhood when they were able to continue the regime on themselves and that they have subsequently found that as adults their skin has retained its flexibility and beauty for longer than people of a similar age. So, maybe baby oil is something all of us should be applying throughout our lives?
