There are a number of reasons why nappy rash (or indeed eczema) might be greatly influenced by mental issues - psychological aspect of treatment and prevention should not be ignored. Like any creature, psychological stress can produce physiological results. In the same way that 'stressed out' business people can get ulcers, heart disease and dermatitis, babies can be affected by stress too, in various ways. There are a myriad benefits for both the baby and his or her parents in ensuring that baby grows up in a calm, relaxed and stress-free environment. Skin problems can often appear for no apparent or obvious reason and one often overlooked area is the psychological environment within which the baby is a living.

Parents may for example only show love to the child when the child is present, but if ever there is a an argument between parents they may not always make sure that this happens in another room. Babies have very good hearing and indeed many believe can actually pick up emotional 'vibes' even when they may not understand the words that are being said or indeed be anywhere near whatever argument or heated discussion may be happening. So, in caring for a baby's health it is a really good idea to make sure that the environment in which they grow up has minimal levels of anxiety and stress. The benefits of such an environment are multiple and indeed work hand in hand with any other measure that parents may be taking to ensure that the physical health of their children is maintained. It is actually much better to prevent skin/eczema complaints than to deal with them later using a nappy rash cream.
